Dr. Cristina CRUZ SERRANO
Dr.Cristina Cruz is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the IE Center for Families in Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She is an internationally recognized expert in the study of family businesses and entrepreneurial families. Her research on corporate governance, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship within family-controlled organizations has been published in leading academic management journals. Her
outstanding research contributions have earned her several awards, and she currently serves as Associate Editor of the Family Business Review.As Director of the IECenter for Families in Business, Dr. Cruz leads numerous applied research
projects and supports entrepreneurial families in their primary challenge: creating value across generations. She is aFellow of the Family Firm Institute, a distinction awarded to professionals who demonstrate ongoing commitment and expertise in the field of family business. Additionally, she is a member of the scientific board of the Family Office Observatory at Politecnico di Milano.Maria J. Sanchez-Bueno
Maria J. Sanchez-Bueno is an Associate Professor in Management at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, accredited as Full Professor by ANECA since 2021. Her research centers on family businesses and strategic management, with a strong focus on addressing current societal and managerial challenges. Her work has been published in top-tier journals (ABDC, ABS, FT50, JCR Q1, UT Dallas) and has earned her numerous accolades, including multiple Best Paper and Reviewer Awards at major conferences such as EURAM, IFERA, and FERC.
She serves as Associate Editor for Long Range Planning (ABS 4), Business Research Quarterly, and Business Ethics: The Environment and Responsibility, and is on the editorial board of the European Journal of Family Business. She is a regular reviewer for leading journals, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Family Business Review, Journal of Management Studies, and Small Business Economics.
Maria has presented her research globally (e.g., AOM, SMS, IFERA, EURAM, EGOS, BAM) and maintains a broad international network of collaborators across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Australia. She has delivered invited talks in more than a dozen countries and conducted research stays abroad.
She has also held leadership roles within IFERA and the Iberoamerican Chair on Management and CSR (Banco Santander – University of Salamanca) and is actively involved in various family business research centers and scientific committees across Europe.
Dr. Ahmed Nawara
CEO of AlManar Group, Ahmed Nawara ventured into business growth rendering Al Manar's regional expansions in Egypt and North Africa with diversified products and global alliances and representations in the automotive lubricants and spare parts sector. A Graduate of School of Business, from the American University in Cairo and an Executive Masters degree in the same discipline, Nawara capitalized on his knowledge to grow the group in terms of products, brands, services and above all create a flexible operating model that is the real differentiator in the industry. Nawara, with a savvy hand-picked team, was able to create a line of locally manufactured products abiding by international quality and efficiency standards maximizing further growth in local and export markets. Under his management, Al Manar won contracts from Global players like Honeywell in regional countries spearheading unprecedented growth and leading the North African markets. Under his leadership Al Manar created a new exclusive distribution agreement with one of the global players in the energy and fuel industries; Total whereby Al Manar became a trusted exclusive distributor in Egypt for ELF brand. Nawara believes in excellence, sharp work ethic and trust in team expertise to reach accomplishment and growth.
Ahmed Nawara is an adjunct professor at the American University in Cairo, School of Business specially in topics related to Entrepreneurship, and family business. He is also a member in the familybusiness consortium/roundtables at AUC.Nawara also attended with AUC the conference for “Accreditationfor Reshaping Business Education in The MENA Region” in USEK, Beirut. He was also a guest speaker there in the panel discussion for “Family Business and Social Impact in The MENA Region”.
Dr. Seddiq HASSANI
As the CEO of Ingelec, a leading company in electrical engineering and installation, Dr. Seddiq HASSANI brings over 20 years of general management experience in the construction industry. He holds a PhD in Engineering from École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, in France, and has a strong background in marketing, strategy, and retail management from HEC Paris and INSEAD.
Types of Submission
We warmly encourage international scholars at all stages of their research to submit their ideas, works in progress, and completed studies to the Forum.
Research Ideas and Doctoral Proposals
These should outline the research questions, theoretical frameworks, methodology, andexpected contributions to the field of family business.
Extended Abstracts
They should be no less than 1000 words and include the Research Question and Objectives, the Theoretical Background, Methodology,Findings, Originality, Theoretical, Managerial, and Social Implications, References, and Keywords.
Full papers
Both conceptual and empirical research papers are welcome, whetherin draft form or fully completed.
Teaching case study
We encourage submissions of teaching case studies that present real-world or hypothetical family business scenarios, accompanied by teaching notes.
